Flexible Sigmoidoscopy

Flexible sigmoidoscopy is a procedure used to evaluate the lining of the end portion of your large intestine known as your colon.

Up to one-third of your colon can be evaluated during this procedure. During this procedure a thin flexible tube with a light and camera on the end is used. This test is commonly done to treat and evaluate symptoms of the lower digestive tract including bleeding, change in bowel habits and to evaluate for inflammation or growths such as polyps or cancers.
